Amanda Righetti and Jordan Alan’s second home in Hawaii inspired them to escape to the serenity of the islands for their nuptials, and a family friend offered his estate on the North Shore as the wedding site. Family and friends traveled to the island of Oahu to be present at the union of Amanda and Jordan. Upon arrival to the magnificent North Shore, guests were welcomed with a rehearsal dinner at the Turtle Bay Resort. The laidback luxury of the scenic setting gave everyone time to unwind before the wedding day and enjoy the awe-inspiring sites of Hawaii.
Amanda chose a strapless gown by Romona Keveza that perfectly suited her enviable figure and the warm climate. Although her veil appeared custom designed especially for her, it was passed to Amanda from her grandmother, who had worn it for her own wedding in 1935. Amanda’s maid of honor and fellow cast mate on “Reunion”, Alexa Davalos, wore a flowing silk empire waist dress tied with a pale blue sash. The two friends spent the night before the wedding at a private estate on the North Shore.
Jordan and Amanda exchanged vows overlooking a brilliant expanse of ocean, the tumbling waves faintly audible from beyond the estate grounds. The nontraditional ceremony was both heartfelt and entertaining. Escorted by her father, the bride walked to the altar accompanied by a guitarist playing a solo rendition of the Beatle’s song “Octopus’s Garden”. Minister Mahealani Keale presided over a ceremony that combined the bride’s Christian traditions with the groom’s family rituals. The two recited their vows under a chuppah, a Jewish marriage canopy that symbolized the new home being created by the couple. In the Jewish custom, the canopy remained open on all sides to welcome friends and relatives in unconditional hospitality.
The sparkling Pacific Ocean influenced nearly every element of the event; Amanda designed bouquets of white calla lilies dotted with blue irises and contemporary square vases filled with sand held candles to light each table. The reception area was brimming in candlelight, with tiki torches glowing around the grounds and glimmering candles floating amid white rose petals in the pool. Bouquets of deep blue irises hung above the pool, casting reflections in the aqua-colored water. The dance floor was awash in the soft romantic light of over-sized paper lanterns in shades of blue, white, and sandy yellow. Guests received small lauhala boxes filled with island chocolates and tied with a blue ribbon.
Of all things sea-inspired that evening, perhaps the food stations were the most memorable. An oyster bar, lemongrass encrusted scallops, and pan seared opakapaka topped the list of guest favorites, as they dined on a menu fit for royalty. Individual chocolate ganache cakes topped with fresh flowers provided the perfect ending to the evening.
Before going their separate ways, family and friends happily gathered one last time with the newlyweds at a post wedding brunch. The laughter and joy they had shared during the week gave Amanda and Jordan a precious wedding present—memories to last a lifetime.
